A drink-driver’s dashcam has captured the shocking moment he slams into the back of an unsuspecting pedestrian at speed and then simply drives off with a smashed windscreen.

The hit-and-run motorist, surnamed Lu, had reportedly been advised by his friends not to drive home following a night of heavy drinking, but he stubbornly insisted he was up to the task.

Footage from his car shows him approaching the pedestrian, surnamed Peng, before slamming into the back of her as she walks by the side of the road.

The victim flies out of camera shot during the collision, which causes a crack on Lu’s windscreen, but he does not stop and instead speeds away.

Authorities say Lu, 30, had taken each of his friends home before returning home himself. He later turned himself in after inspecting the state of his saloon car and viewing the dashcam footage.

The police said Peng was found dead at the scene of the crash.

Lu faces drink-driving and hit-and-run charges, which is set to see him handed a lifetime driving ban as well as further fines and punishment.

Investigations are still ongoing.
