This shocking footage shows a caregiver brutally beating an elderly woman with Alzheimer’s disease.

The incident was filmed at the victim’s home in the neighbourhood of Suadiye, in the district of Kadikoy, in Turkey’s largest city, Istanbul, on 1st February.

A complaint was filed with the police by H. O. U., who had hired Turkmen national Merjen Allakulyyeva to care for his mother, Muzeyyen D., in 2018.

It was last year (2021) that U. and other family members had found bruises and swelling on D.’s body. They took her to hospital, where doctors told them that the injuries were probably the result of a beating.

U. then installed hidden cameras in his house, which filmed the shocking scenes seen here.

In the footage, Allakulyyeva is seen punching and kicking D., as well as dragging her by her hair, choking her and repeatedly slapping her. D. is heard crying and screaming during the attacks.

U. took the footage to the police and filed a complaint against Allakulyyeva, who was taken into custody.

Allakulyyeva went on trial at the Istanbul Anatolian 62nd Criminal Court of First Instance and was sentenced to four years and two months in Bakirkoy Women’s Closed Prison.

However, she had barely started her sentence when she was transferred to an immigration removal centre run by the Directorate General of Migration Management, where she awaited deportation to her home country.

However, local media reported that Allakulyyeva’s sister, who lives and works in Turkey, helped her to escape from the centre, and she has since been spotted freely around Istanbul, with the authorities reportedly looking for her.

When caught, she faces deportation from Turkey.
