This is the moment four hero dogs die doing battle with a venomous cobra in a bid to stop the snake from slithering inside their sleeping owner’s family home.

The incident was filmed by a mounted CCTV camera at the family’s home in the district of Bhagalpur in the north-eastern Indian state of Bihar, bordering with Nepal.

The footage shows four dogs surrounding the cobra as it repeatedly strikes to defend itself.

At the end of the video, one dog is remaining and continues to battle the venomous snake before an unidentified man arrives with garden tools and appears to behead it.

After a while, three of the four dogs collapsed while the remaining pooch continued to fight the snake before also keeling over.

They had seriously injured the snake and it was easily dealt with by the man seen in the video.

Meanwhile, the brave canines’ bodies were buried by the side of the house.

The homeowner, identified as Dr. Poonam Moses who works at the nearby Mayaganj Hospital, was sleeping indoors with his family, unaware of the dangerous situation.

Dr. Poonam’s brother Bobby told local media: “All the dogs started barking. Even after waiting a while, the barking did not stop.

“Later, when we went out to check, we saw the dogs battling a snake.”

According to Bobby, the whole family is in shock at the loss of their dogs while local residents have lauded the animals’ loyalty and bravery.

The latest incident comes after Tyson, a dalmatian, also battled a deadly cobra to stop it from entering his master’s home one night in Odisha, bravely protecting the family at the cost of his own life.
