This is the moment a heroic police frogman pulls a body from the ice-cold sea after diving into the water in a bid to save two twin brothers from drowning.

Osman Asik ripped off his shirt before diving into the Black Sea in the Atakum district of northern Turkey’s Samsun Province, to try to save Yunus and Murat Unlu, both 39.

Yunus, who had himself jumped into the sea in a bid to save his suicidal disabled twin, later died but doctors managed to revive Murat in hospital even though his heart had briefly stopped.

An eyewitness with a smartphone filmed officer Asik pulling one of the brothers, it is not clear whether it was Yunus or Murat, from the water as waiting police and paramedics look on.

Yunus had run to the scene after Murat rang him to say he was going to take his own life.

Yunus had already reported his brother’s disappearance to police and he rushed to Halk Pier when he heard Murat had been seen there.

He arrived at the pier to find his brother already in the sea and immediately jumped into the water to try to pull him to safety.

Eyewitnesses raised the alarm after seeing the brothers struggling in the Black Sea and police frogmen and paramedics rushed to the scene.

Asik managed to pull both twins onto the beach but they were both unconscious and paramedics were unable to revive them at the scene.

They were taken by ambulance to local hospitals. and Murat U., whose heart had stopped according to medics, was brought back to life at a private hospital.

But, tragically, doctors at the OMU Medical Faculty Hospital were unable to save his brother Yunus U.

Officer Asik was praised for his bravery in saving Murat and attempting to save his brother Yunus.
