These are the pictures shared by a grateful woman who accidentally threw her golden rings in the rubbish before bin men found them among four tonnes of refuse.

Ms Lee, from the county of Yilan in West Taiwan, revealed the rings were mistakenly thrown into her office dustbin before her colleague threw the rubbish out.

When she discovered her rings were missing an hour later, she called the county’s Department of Environmental Protection which managed to track down the bin lorry responsible for collecting her office’s bins.

At a nearby waste station, Ms Lee was reportedly “invited” to search for her rings, with four staff members taking part in the efforts to sift through some four tonnes of household and office refuse.

According to Ms Lee, they found both golden rings among some discarded vegetables about 30 minutes later.

“I’m really very grateful to the sanitation staff for helping me find my two rings so quickly,” she wrote online.

Chang Ming-lee, who is head of sanitation at Yuanshan Township, said the dustcart was already half full when Ms Lee’s distress call came in.

Mr Chang said: “It was like searching for a needle in the sea”.
