This footage shows a young girl crying for help while trapped behind the burglar bars of her family’s home as it goes up in flames.

The girl, whose age has not been given, was trapped in the fire with her mother on the morning of 30th October.

The pair were unable to escape the fire in their third-floor home and could only take shelter outside their windows, but found themselves trapped by the metal security bars instead.

As smoke and fire fills the family’s home in Qingcheng District in the city of Qingyuan, in China’s southern Guangdong Province, the girl can be seen standing in the corner of the building clutching the metal bars.

A neighbouring resident can be seen throwing a bucket of water in the girl’s direction in an apparent bid to keep her cool as the flames grow.

The arriving fire service said they later sprayed their water cannon at the mother and daughter who both huddled on the same burglar bars as a separate team of rescuers tried to reach them from below.

Rescue footage shows firefighters rushing into the smoke-filled building before returning with the young girl in their arms.

The girl, whose burned clothes had been discarded, was taken to hospital together with her mother.

The pair survived the scare, but it was unclear at the time of writing whether they suffered any serious burn injuries.

The authorities said the parent and child were rescued with in 10 minutes, with the fire in the flat was put out in 30 minutes.

The cause of the blaze was still under investigation.
