Helpless Driver Trapped In Burning Car After Mway Crash

This footage shows a car burning with its driver trapped inside after he crashed and onlookers were unable to free him in time as the vehicle’s door was bent out of shape.

The shocking incident occurred on the Shengli flyover in Liubei District in the city of Liuzhou in southern China’s Guangxi Province when the driver, named in reports by his surname Long, was driving towards the ramp onto the Hedong Bridge.

In the footage Long can be seen driving his white car on the flyover heading towards the ramp when he crashes into a lane divider.

A passing driver identified by his surname Tao told reporters that he had tried to rescue Long from the crashed car but the oil tank began leaking and the engine was smoking.

He added: “The door was out of shape and I couldn’t open it. The driver had lost consciousness. In seconds, the car started burning.”

A clip shows the white car engulfed in flames, reportedly with the driver still inside, and reports state that firefighters out the flames 20 minutes after the crash.

Traffic police and an ambulance attended the scene but the driver could not be saved.

The front end of the car was completely destroyed and the entire vehicle was charred by the fire.

Long’s wife, named as Mrs Yu, travelled to Liuzhou from Hechi City after learning of the fatal accident.

The traffic police are investigating the accident.
