This is the moment a driver uses his bare hands to try to stop his van from sliding down a steep hill in icy conditions before giving up and watching it fall into a garden.
The incident was filmed by a company’s CCTV camera in the district of Osmangazi in the city of Bursa, located in the north-western Turkish province of the same name.
According to the news site Yenicag, the van owner was driving uphill on the icy road when the vehicle lost traction and started to slide backwards.
The driver reportedly got out of the van straight away and tried to halt the vehicle’s swift descent with his hands.
However, his efforts were in vain, and the van slid down the hill and dropped into someone’s garden.
In the footage, several people are seen standing at the bottom of the hill as the van enters the frame, rapidly sliding backwards down the icy road.
Meanwhile, the owner is seen running outside the vehicle, apparently trying to use brute force to halt the van in its tracks, and one concerned mother pulls her child out of harm’s way.
The man slides along the ground, trying to get a firm foothold, but can only let go of his van and watch it slide over a ridge and into the garden.
According to the news site Yenicag, the police arrived on the scene and closed all entrances and exits to the street until the van was removed from the garden and eventually towed away.
