H-ARROWING ACT: Bowman Shot Reveller For Making Too Much Noise While Celebrating Child’s Birth

A man celebrating the birth of his daughter late at night was killed by a miffed resident with a homemade bow and arrow because he was making too much noise.

Building facade construction worker Javier Alfredo Miranda Romero, 41, had gone out in Genoa, Italy on the night of 1st November to celebrate his second child’s birth a day earlier.

He had decided to celebrate the little one’s arrival by going out with his friends to have some beers and watch a Champions League football match while his wife and newborn were still in hospital.

But while he was walking along a street in the city centre in the early hours of the following morning, Javier – originally from Lima, Peru – was pierced by an arrow fired from a nearby window.

The alleged bowman – 63-year-old craftsman Evaristo Scalco – normally lived in Varese but had temporarily moved to Genoa a month earlier to work on boats.

Local media reported that he shot Javier because he was making too much noise.

Jole Lorenzo – a friend of the victim – told local media: “That man had his music on loud and had drunk too much.

“It’s absolutely not true that Javier threw a firecracker at his house, he started to raise his voice and threatened us, even though we were just talking.

“After he hit him he tried to take the arrow out of his chest to remove the evidence, but he hurt him even more.”

But an unnamed local resident contradicted Jole’s version of events by telling local media that Javier and his friends were visibly drunk.

The witness said: “In a few minutes we heard a lot of noise and then we saw the body on the ground.”

Scalco’s unnamed neighbour told local media: “It was a terrible scene. That man in front of the gate tried to pull the arrow out of his body, it was horrendous.

“We’re used to screams and noises here, but it’s been getting worse in recent weeks because a new bar has opened and patrons have been setting off firecrackers late at night.

“I heard Evaristo arguing from the window with people in the street and then the screams became desperation.”

Some reports stated that the ruckus Scalco had heard was in fact a fight between Javier and another Peruvian man.

CCTV footage shows how an individual pulls the arrow from Javier’s torso moments before Javier collapses to the ground in a puddle of his own blood.

After being shot, Javier was taken to San Martino Hospital in a very serious condition.

He underwent a risky operation to remove the arrow but died during organ transplantation surgery after suffering severe damage to his liver.

Scalco was arrested by carabinieri and remanded in custody on accusations of aggravated murder.

Police seized two other bows and around sixty arrows from his residence.
