This is the deadly moment a gunman’s stand-off with US cops ends in a hail of bullets.
The suspect – named as Kenneth Hearne, 37 – was on the run for shooting a police officer amid a sexual assault investigation in Phoenix, Arizona.
But the chase ended when he was surrounded by a heavily armed police tactical unit and refused to surrender.
The fatal incident, reportedly on 7th January, came a day after Hearne had shot a police sergeant investigating a sex crime.
Body-worn footage obtained by Newsflash from the Phoenix Police Department shows Hearne walking into a car park as he’s challenged by the tactical team.
Hearne appears to be pointing a gun at them while walking past their patrol vehicles.
This reportedly came after he ignored several commands to surrender, and shrugged off being hit by a rubber baton round.
Immediately after flaunting the weapon, Hearne appears to have been struck by a hail of bullets after officers discharged multiple rounds.
In another officer’s body-worn footage, about a dozen gunshots can be heard going off.
As officers move in closer, Hearne appears to be motionless and lying on the ground with his handgun dropped next to him.
He was taken to hospital but died from gunshot injuries.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
