GUNNED DOWN: Man Pointing Pellet Gun Shot And Killed By LAPD

This footage shows two Los Angeles Police Officers shooting and killing a man who had been armed with a pellet gun.

The incident began when a Traffic Division officer who was conducting a collision investigation was reportedly approached by citizens who advised him that a man with a gun was down the street.

The officer had visually confirmed the information and reportedly asked for backup with a provided description and location of the suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Marcos Maldonado.

According to the police report, Hollenbeck patrol officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded and located Maldonado walking by the street.

In the footage, the officers can be seen making contact with the suspect and ordering him to drop the gun.

The seemingly oblivious Maldonado can be seen turning and pointing an object at the officers, which reportedly appeared to be a handgun, prompting the officers to shoot in his direction.

Maldonado is struck by the gunfire and falls down on the ground.

The Los Angeles Fire Department had responded and reportedly took Maldonado to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The officers who were involved in the shooting incident were later identified as Hollenbeck Patrol Division Police Officer II David Gallardo and Police Officer II Alonso Vazquez.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The suspect was in possession of an object believed to be a handgun.

Upon further inspection, it had been determined the object was simply a pellet gun resembling a handgun.

A complete investigation is being carried out to determine whether the use of deadly force complied with LAPD’s policies and procedures and if the force used by the officers was reasonable.
