Gunman Shot At By LAPD Cops Arrested After Crashing Into Pole

This is the moment a gunman is arrested after the police saw a street shooting in progress and the suspects tried to flee in a car before crashing into a post.

The incident happened on Budlong Avenue in Los Angeles in the US state of California at around 11.30 pm on 17th October.

LAPD officers Andrew Cervantes and Arturo Leon from the Southwest Division were in the same area when they saw a shooting in progress.

According to the official police report, a grey sedan was stopped in the road and the two passengers were firing handguns at a victim.

One of the suspects pursued the victim further down the avenue while his accomplice pointed his handgun in the direction of the officers as soon as he sees them arrive. The cops then fire at the suspect.

The armed man then entered the passenger side of the grey sedan and the driver attempted to flee from the scene, but crashed into a pole moments later after which the occupants fled on foot.

A search was conducted after the incident to locate the suspects and one male, later identified as 34-year-old Brandon Maxwell, was detained and charged with attempted murder.

Maxwell, who was the registered owner of the grey sedan, had minor injuries which appeared to be from broken glass.

No additional suspects were found during the search and no officers were injured during the incident.

LAPD’s specialised Force Investigation Division (FID) responded to the scene and began interviewing witnesses and collecting forensic evidence, including two handguns.
