This is the moment gun-toting cops collar a suspect who allegedly made thousands stealing from pensioners in a dramatic bust.

According to local media, the 41-year-old suspect defrauded 8,000 PLN (1,600 GBP) from an 80-year-old resident of Naklo nad Notecia in the northern Polish region of Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.

As seen in the gritty footage, two burly cops arrested the man near a petrol station in Pawlowek.

He reportedly contacted the elderly victim claiming that a relative had been involved in a car crash and needed immediate financial help. The man then allegedly went round to her house to collect the cash.

Reports said that police quickly identified a potential suspect with known connections to criminal groups and proceeded to detain him.

Police found 8,000 PLN (1,600 GBP) in cash which the suspect had collected a few hours earlier from the elderly victim who was still under the impress that a loved one was involved in an accident.

According to local media, police also seized 3,500 PLN (700 GBP) in cash from the man, believed to be the spoils of an earlier scam.

Investigators suspect the 41-year-old of being involved in at least six other similar frauds.

The suspect was sent before the public prosecutor’s office on two fraud charges where it was decided to send him to a pretrial detention centre for three months as the investigation continues, according to local media.
