The world’s heaviest child – a Guinness record holder since 2003 – has died in Russia aged 21.

Dzhambulat Khatokhov had appeared on many Russian TV Shows and gained international fame on the UK Channel 4 series ‘Body Shock’ in the episode ‘World’s Biggest Boy’.

Khatokhov became a budding sumo wrestler and the news of his passing at the age of 21 came from Betal Gubzhev, president of Sumo and Mas-Wrestling Federation in the republic of Kabardino-Balkarian.

He said: “Dzhambulat Khatokhov, the record holder of the Guinness Book of Records, the first sumo wrestler of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, has passed away.

“My sincere condolences to all his friends and relatives.”

Khatokhov was born in the town of Terek in Kabardino-Balkaria Republic on 24th September 1999.

At the age of three and a half, Khatokhov was much taller than children of the same age. The boy weighed 48 kilogrammes (7.6 stone), his shoe size was 32, and he was very strong.

Health experts confirmed that the child, who skilfully handled heavy weights, was healthy.

In 2008, British doctor Ian Campbell visited the boy and carried out a series of tests at a Moscow clinic where he was being treated for his obesity.

The tests showed that the bones of Khatokhov, who was nine years old at the time, were the size of an average 13-year-old boy.

The cause of the 21-year-old man’s death has not been publicly announced yet.
