This is the bizarre moment wedding guests sit at plastic-covered tables during a reception in a Chinese pigsty.

The unusual wedding reception was held at an unnamed piggery in the city of Zhangzhou in the eastern Chinese province of Fujian and the footage has been widely viewed on the social network Douyin, what TikTok is known as in China.

According to local reports, the wedding guests enjoyed dinner in separate cubicles within the piggery.

In the video, guests are seen sat around circular tables covered with a red plastic sheet in what appears to be individual pigpens within a warehouse.

The guest who filmed the footage, surnamed Lin, said the piggery did not smell bad one bit, as it was newly constructed and had not yet been put to use.

He added: “Many guests like myself found it very special, unforgettable and interesting to hold a wedding reception in a pigpen.”

Netizens joked that the venue could be “suitable for many more occasions” as well as serve as the ideal location for a “housewarming” for the yet-to-be-delivered pigs.

It is unclear if pork was on the menu during the wedding bash.
