This is the moment a dog is rescued from an ice floe two months after being separated from its owner on board a ship.

The rescue took place in Nagaev Bay on the Sea of Okhotsk in the far-eastern Russian region of Magadan Oblast where the dog has been waiting for its owner to return for over two months.

According to local media, the dog arrived in the icy area on board a ship. However, it was left behind either accidentally or because they could not find it when the vessel departed, and since then has even refused to be helped by kindhearted fishermen and locals who try to help it.

Some of them reportedly left food to keep the dog alive in the freezing conditions.

Reports said that rescuers used snowmobiles and a net to eventually trap the pooch, as seen in the video clips, which took several hours.

The dog was reportedly handed over to an animal shelter where it spent several days recovering.

One of the fishermen involved in the animal’s rescue has since decided to adopt it and take it home, according to local media.

The identity of the dog’s former owner is unknown and it is also unclear whether they abandoned it or accidentally left it behind somehow.
