This is the graphic moment a Turkish vet allegedly cuts a dog’s testicles off without using any anaesthesia as the poor animal struggles helplessly on the operating table.
The graphic incident, during which the dog was allegedly neutered without an anaesthetic, took place in the district of Cerkes in Cankiri province in north-central Turkey sometime in August 2021, although the images have only surfaced now.
The footage, which was shot using a mobile phone, shows the veterinarian, who has been named as Salih Kayabasi, age not reported, performing the sterilisation operation on the dog, which was reportedly a stray, as the poor animal struggles on the operating table.
It was later claimed that the operation had been performed without anaesthesia, and Haydar Ozkan, Vice President of the Confederation of Animal Rights for Life, said: “It is cruelty to cut a living creature, to sterilise it without giving it anaesthesia.
“The Turkish Veterinary Medical Association will initiate an investigation so this veterinarian cannot harm any living thing again…”
The governor of the province of Cankiri, Abdullah Ayaz, took to Twitter to say: “An investigation has been launched by our governorship regarding the images published on social media today, in which it is stated that a dog was sterilised without anaesthesia in Cerkes District.”
The investigation is ongoing.
