A 71-year-old woman shot her neighbour dead in a row about the noise of his barking dog before turning the gun on his wife.

Accused Silvana Erzembergher is said to have put three bullets in the chest of victim Luigi Casati, 62, outside their apartment block in Treviglio, northern Italy.

And when his horrified wife, 57-year-old Monica Leoni, came to his aid, she is said to have shot her twice in the leg using the powerful-looking Magnum-style revolver.

Horrifying phone footage of the aftermath of the slaying shows Luigi’s body sprawled on the tarmac while his wife sits beside him cradling their pet dog.

Erzembergher – her grey hair in a neat bun – was then seen walking around waving the deadly pistol.

The double shooting took place at around 7.40am on Thursday, 28th April.

Erzembergher, a retired peddler, had moved into the housing estate around a decade ago, and neighbours said she picked fights with everyone.

One neighbour reported that she would constantly ring residents’ doorbells – even in the middle of the night – for no reason other than to annoy them.

Monica reported her to police after she allegedly chased and beat her with a stick.

The woman was believed to have harboured a special grudge against Monica, her husband – who was retired – and their pet dog, Chanel.

She is said to have frequently complained about Chanel’s barking, but other neighbours said the pooch was quiet and well-behaved.

Residents said that whenever Erzembergher had a problem with a neighbour, she would threaten them, telling them she had a gun in her flat.

However, it appears no one believed her until it was too late.

In the days leading up to the fatal shooting, she had reportedly shouted from the middle of the estate’s forecourt: “I’ll kill you all.”

Erzembergher shot Luigi while he was on his own on the apartment block forecourt.

Monica heard the noise and looked out from their balcony to see her husband lying on the ground.

She rushed down to help him, only for the OAP to shoot her twice in the leg.

She was later rushed to hospital and is now believed to be recovering from her injuries.

Luigi, who neighbours said was quiet and likeable, was pronounced dead.

The suspect’s firearm was confiscated and, after falling ill, she was also taken to hospital, where she remains under police guard.

The police found she had a firearms licence, which was close to expiring.
