The Netherlands-based tycoon Zeki Sabuncu was revealed to be the biological father of Taner C. and his 24-year-old sister – named only as B.C.- after he was compelled to take a paternity test.

A new law in Turkey allows courts to request compulsory testing for runaway dads who flee overseas to avoid their responsibilities.

Now the siblings are to begin applications for Dutch citizenship as part of their campaign to be recognised as their father’s heirs.

Turkish paternity lawyer Varol Turbey told local media: “Although Zeki Sabuncu ‘s economic situation was very good, his son’s financial situation was insufficient.

“They could not afford to pay court fees. We filed the case with legal aid.

“In addition, my clients have the right to Dutch citizenship.

“When children are born, if their fathers are Dutch citizens, they can also benefit from this right.”

The two siblings were reportedly overjoyed when the results of the test revealed that they are the children of Zeki Sabuncu, with a 99.99 per cent probability rate after the DNA sample was sent to the Izmir Forensic Institute.

Taner stated: “If I get Dutch citizenship, I want to go to Rotterdam and ask my biological father, ‘Why haven’t you been a father to us up until now?’

“I want to know why you’re not interested in us.”

Zeki Sabuncu reportedly left Turkey after fathering the two children with his partner of seven years in Izmir, where he worked as a contractor before he moved to the Netherlands.

He now has a partnership in a Turkish hotel and owns a cleaning company operating in both the Netherlands and Turkey.
