Local media report the goalkeeper, who is yet to make an appearance for the club after signing in July 2019, jumped from his flat after watching their 1-1 home draw with Teuta from the bench.

He reportedly returned home and got into an argument with his girlfriend, whose name has not been reported, before throwing himself from the sixth floor flat. It is unclear what the argument was about.

He was then taken to hospital where he was in a serious condition with damage to his lungs among other injuries.

Local media report his mother took the news of the incident the hardest, with doctors telling her: “Go inside and prepare yourself to see your son but don’t cry in front of him when you see him in bed. It will only make the situation worse for him.”

The motive behind the alleged suicide attempt remains unclear.

Teqja has represented his country up to under-21 level and made 34 appearances for Skenderbeu Korce before his move to Partizani.

Partizani Tirana sit in sixth place in the Albanian top-flight Superliga.
