The police began investigating her after the two businessmen who paid her BRL 1.6 million filed a complaint after the aircraft they were promised failed to be delivered.

According to Elson Soares, the lawyer of one of the victims, the suspect had told her clients she owned land, a supermarket chain, a pharmacy group and real estate, and that she was due to receive an inheritance of BRL 38 million (GBP 5.3 million).

Police chief Silva believes there are others involved in the scams.
