Girl Killed By Family Dog Of Breed Banned In Several Countries

This adorable two-year-old toddler has died after she was attacked by her family dog which is of a breed banned in several countries but was trusted by the family because it never showed signs of violence in the past.

The fatal attack by a Dogo Argentino breed occurred in the El Dique neighbourhood located in the Ensenada partido located in the Argentine province of Buenos Aires on Wednesday this week (4 November, 2020).

Partidos are the administrative subdivisions used exclusively for the Buenos Aires province in Argentina.

It claimed the life of Guadalupe, 2, who was viciously attacked when she started to drink milk from her bottle. She was rushed to hospital by her parents who have been identified as Marcos Erenu and Evelyn Lobito, according to ‘Clarin’. (https://bit.ly/3eyk7kO)

She was taken to the Rossio Hospital in the city of La Plata but given the severity of her injuries was then transported to the La Plata Children’s Hospital.

She died after suffering from a heart arrest caused by her wounds which were to her face and neck area.

The reason for the attack is unknown as an officer who attended the emergency said the animal was used to living with the family.

Neighbours claim the dog had never shown signs of aggression as the couple had it since it was a puppy and have another daughter who also grew up with it, according to Clarin.

Local media report the dog has since been put down.

The Dogo Argentino is considered as a dangerous breed of dog which was first bred for big-game hunting in Argentina. Its ownership is banned in several countries such as the Ukraine, Australia and New Zealand.

In the United Kingdom, under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, Dogo Argentinos are also prohibited unless a court exemption is granted.
