Girl, 8, Becomes First Child Model In Wheelchair In Egypt

This cute eight-year-old girl has become Egypt’s first ever child model in a wheelchair.

Sagda Islam was born with a movement disability that affected both her legs and, after many physiotherapy sessions, she was forced to use a wheelchair and is expected to need it for the rest of her life, according to the news site Al-Ittihad.

However, the cute youngster has refused to let her condition get her down and has mastered the skill of modelling in her wheelchair, leading to her being booked for numerous fashion shows.

Sagda told local media that she used to feel trapped in her wheelchair until she hit eight years of age and wanted to explore her artistic talents by joining a theatre group.

However, she soon realised her skills were better suited to modelling and she started to receive offers from clothing brands to showcase their outfits at fashion shows and marketing campaigns.

With her mother advising her, not named, little Sagda has selected the right clients and fashion shows to take part in and gained fame in Egypt as a model as a result, according to Al-Ittihad.

Sagda has also become an inspiration for other children with motor disabilities who she meets at physiotherapy centres or at fashion events.

Her journey, which her mum says she undertakes with joy in her heart and a big smile on her face, has “filled other disabled children with optimism to help them achieve their dreams in life”.
