This is the moment a young girl survives after being knocked unconscious in front of her father by a window which fell 11 storeys onto her head.

The incident happened in the district of Yubei in Chongqing Municipality in south-western China on the morning of 6th October.

CCTV images show the child, six, and her father standing below a residential building preparing to head out during China’s National Day holidays when the accident happens.

The window with a white frame falls from above and hits the girl on the head, knocking her unconscious and causing her to collapse onto the ground in front of her dad.

The window and glass pane break apart and shatter as they hit the ground next to the parent and the girl.

The shocked father is seen immediately picking up the girl and holding her in his arms before the owner of a nearby parked car appears to offer to drive them to a hospital.

Yubei police said the girl is stable and not in any life-threatening condition.

However, she remains hospitalised, and it was not clear at the time of writing whether she faced any long-term effects from the injury.

The authorities said the window belonged to a homeowner surnamed Chen, who lives on the 11th floor of the high-rise residential block.

The window was installed 10 years ago and had not been regularly maintained, the cops said.

Further investigations are ongoing.
