This is the moment a window falls off its hinges and shatters on a six-year-old girl’s head knocking her to the ground and leaving her needing 23 stitches.

The freak accident has left six-year-old ‘Ya Ya’ with five lacerations and needing 23 stitches, her parents the Wangs have revealed.

CCTV footage from the courtyard of Mantianxing Kindergarten shows Ya Ya standing at the bottom left of the frame at the time of the accident in Lingao County in South China’s Hainan Province on 20th June.

As dozens of kids play with each other, the rectangular, steel-framed window suddenly comes loose and falls on Ya Ya from behind.

The glass shatters as it crashes onto her head, and Ya Ya is knocked to the ground on the stone steps in front of her.

The crash frightens Ya Ya’s classmates who turn and cover their ears, with the injured girl herself so shocked that she springs back up and runs towards her teacher.

Mr and Ms Wang said Ya Ya received 23 stitches for cuts on her limbs and head, with school reportedly offering to cover a portion of her medical bills.

The Lingao Education Bureau is investigating the case, but no arrests are believed to have been made.

Mantianxing Kindergarten has so far declined to comment on the incident, citing the ongoing investigation.
