This is the moment a girl in her pyjamas is left dangling from the burglar bars outside her 3rd-floor home after climbing out of her window to play and slipping.

The girl, whose parents were home at the time, slipped past them unnoticed and only drew their attention when she began crying for help.

Footage from the county of Linli in Changde City in Central China’s Hunan Province shows the girl clinging onto the metal security bars with both arms as she hangs outside the residential building on the third floor.

The four-year-old, whose name has not been given, is believed to have been standing on the windowsill when she fell forwards and her lower body slipped through the gaps of the burglar bars.

Dramatic video of her rescue shows firefighters having to cut away at the metal security bars before safely lifting her back into the home.

The fire service said the operation took just 30 seconds, and that she suffered no serious injuries.

Local authorities say metal window bars are the safest way to prevent curious children from falling out windows.

However, they did not say whether the girl’s parents would be punished or warned for failing to supervise their child.
