This is the moment a three-year-old girl is almost killed when a boy throws a rope at her that wraps around her neck and almost hangs her at a playground as she goes down a slide.

Widely shared footage shows the boy using the rope which then snaps back and wraps itself around the young girl’s neck as she goes down the slide at the Grekland children’s centre in the city of Krasnoyarsk in the Krasnoyarsk Oblast region in Siberia, in central Russia, on Sunday 12th December.

The boy then appears to try and go over to the child but is instantly confronted by the girl’s angry mother, who has been named as Anastasia Kovalyova, 32, who saw what happened and after pushing the boy rushed over to comfort her daughter, who has been named as Ksenia, 3.

The footage was shared online by the owner of the park Marina Korolkova. It shows Ksenia going down the slide when the rope wrapped around her neck and she cries out in pain as the footage ends.

The mother is quoted in local media as saying that the staff at the centre did not help and that she had to rescue her daughter herself.

But that is not true, according to owner Marina Korolkova, who shared the footage, and who said: “The moment the girl began to slide down the slide, he let the rope go and it hit the girl and wrapped itself around her neck. The boy made an attempt to approach the victim, but Anastasia, the girl’s mother, immediately ran up to him and grabbed him by the T-shirt.

“The boy realised he had messed up. He certainly didn’t expect this outcome. It’s hard to blame him. It is clear that according to the video it seems that he deliberately threw the rope, but due to his age, he could not predict the situation.”

She added that she was angry that her playpark was now being blamed for the boy’s actions, saying: “Now I read the comments that are written to me, and my hair stands on end, that I had to foresee everything.”

The child avoided serious injury but still suffered a serious bruise on her neck.

The young girl’s mother also reportedly contacted the police, who are also said to be investigating.

It has been alleged that the children’s centre has long had security problems and does not even have a first aid kit, something which Marina denies.

After the footage was widely shared on social media, the authorities announced that they were investigating to ensure that proper security standards were being met at the facility.

The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia released a statement in which they said: “During the monitoring of the media, a video was revealed, which showed that in a family recreation park located on Alekseev Street in the city of Krasnoyarsk, while playing on a rubber slide with a rope, a young girl was injured as a result of the rope being wrapped around her neck.

“Based on this, the investigative bodies of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia have organised a procedural check for the provision of services that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life and health of consumers.

“Currently, the necessary verification activities are being carried out aimed at clarifying all the circumstances of the incident.

“During the inspection, an assessment will be made of the actions of the administration of the recreation park with a view to ensuring control over the safety of children during their stay in the play center, as well as compliance with the rules and conditions for the operation of play equipment.”

The investigation is ongoing.
