This three-year-old girl has burned to death after her house caught fire.

Neighbours noticed the fire when they saw smoke billowing from the house Nayara shared with her parents, grandmother and siblings.

Neighbours tried to put out the rapidly spreading flames, which even caused part of the roof to cave in, but were unable to save Nayara in time.

By the time the emergency services arrived on the scene, Nayara was dead and they were only able to take her badly-burned body away for autopsy.

It is believed the fire was started by a faulty electrical device. An anonymous neighbour told local media: “She was on a mattress next to the fan. It all happened very quickly and there was no time to help everyone in the house.

“There were other children, the mother was also there.”

The other occupants survived the blaze, but lost most of their belongings.

They are being housed in temporary accommodation provided by the municipal authorities and are grieving the loss of Nayara.

The local population is also said to be in shock, as the youngster was “very chatty and spoke to everyone on the street”, according to a local media outlet.

Nayara was buried at the local cemetery on 14th February as the fire brigade investigates the cause of the fire.
