This 19-year-old girl has been stabbed to death after crooks who wanted to steal her mobile phone plunged a blade into her heart just 100 metres from her home.
The incident took place in the city of La Banda, which is located in the Santiago del Estero, in northern Argentina on Thursday 6th January at around 6:30 PM.
Nahiara Ayelen Gorosito, 19, was waiting for a bus to go to the gym when she was stabbed in the heart by a criminal who want to steal her mobile phone.
She was in her first year of university and was studying for a Bachelor’s in Business Administration at the National University of Santiago del Estero (UNSE).
It is reported that the young woman struggled with her attacker, who subsequently stabbed her. She was then assisted by a taxi driver and a witness to the incident, before being taken to a local police station and then on to the Comprehensive Health Centre of La Banda.
But she was then transferred to the Regional Hospital in a serious condition and underwent an operation to repair damage caused by a 3-centimetre (1.18-inch) cut on her heart.
She reportedly suffered four heart attacks during the operation before dying shortly before midnight.
Police investigating the incident retrieved a blade from the scene of the crime and CCTV cameras help them identify their suspect, who they have named only as ‘Monito’.
An unnamed accomplice was reportedly also arrested by police.
The victim’s father Rene said: “They stabbed her 100 metres (330 feet) from the house, near the tracks.
“This person directly injured her to take her cell phone and it was fatal, because it was in the heart.
“She was waiting for the bus to go to the gym, every day she went and drove at that time with a friend who was waiting for her at the bus stop.”
