This is the moment a young Russian athlete breaks a world record for maintaining a headstand for almost half an hour – her 20th record in a single month.

Karolina Chernykh, 11, from the city of Yekaterinburg in the western Russian region of Sverdlovsk Oblast, reportedly broke 18 world records and two national records (listed below) for various feats during the month of April alone.

In the footage, the girl is seen smashing the world record for a headstand in the 11-year-old category after registering 22 minutes and 2 seconds on the clock.

Karolina’s mother Elena Chernykh, 49, told Newsflash that her daughter also excels at tennis and that she won the Junior Russian Tennis Championship in 2018.

Elena said: “It is very important that she is not just a record breaker but a sportswoman first and foremost. When she was seven, we built a tennis court in our garden and this is when she fell in love with the sport. She has been a member of the Russian junior tennis team in 2019 and 2020.”

Elena told newsflash that her other children are also very good at sports.

She said: “My daughter Radmila was a seven-time Russian arm wrestling champion. My daughter Milena and son Liubomir were training in a circus team. They also like chess, computer games, drawing and singing.”

Meanwhile, Elena said that her husband Yuriy Chernykh, 36, is a weightlifting champion who is currently training Karolina at the moment.

According to Elena, Karolina’s records include holding a 16-kilogramme (35.3 lbs) weight while standing on a bed of nails for 22 minutes, pushing a one-ton vehicle for a distance of 31 metres (101.7 feet), and standing on nails for the longest time, 1 hour, 17 minutes and 17 seconds.

The proud mum said that all the records were for 11-year-old girls and were registered with the organisation International Record Registration Agency (Interrecord).

Interrecord is the largest independent organization created as the world’s first international alternative to the Guinness World Records, and which registers not only world records but also national records.
