This is the moment a computer-generated flaming lion is seen walking on top of a new stadium and jumping onto the turf after releasing an impressive roar.

Top-flight Argentinian club Estudiantes La Plata celebrated the completion of construction work at their new Jorge Luis Hirschi Stadium in celebrations that spanned from Saturday to Sunday this past weekend in La Plata located in the Buenos Aires province.

The celebrations included thousands of fans who enjoyed a live performance by Argentinian rock band “Los Autenticos Decadentes”, a friendly match between former players and legends from the club, fireworks and a giant computer-generated flaming lion.

The video shows the moment the giant computer-generated lion walks on top of the stands of the stadium moments before it turns to give an imposing roar as it looks up.

The lion is later seen jumping onto the pitch as patches of turf erupt into ‘flames’ where the lion’s feet touched the grass.

Moments later the lion jumps up on its two hind legs and swings its claws in a final demonstration of strength before giving one final roar as it becomes engulfed in flames and disappears as beams of light dissipate in the air.

The club’s president Juan Sebastian Veron gave a speech at the ceremony saying: “It is very emotional to see you all here after so much fight.

“It is a dream come true, but this is not the destination, this is a starting point for more joys to come.”

Local media report the stadium is the world’s first to receive an Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) certification which means it shows a 20-percent reduction in energy and water consumption.

The stadium is set to have its first official match on Saturday 30th November against Atletico Tucuman for the Argentinian Superliga.

Estudiantes La Plata are currently seventh with 22 points, just three behind first place Boca Juniors.
