Dervis Burekovic, 26, from the city of Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, was charged with grievous bodily harm and suspicion of robbery after he reportedly sedated a 60-year-old woman and robbed her.

Cops are also probing whether any of the patients that died while he was working there might also have been his victims.

The 26-year-old geriatric nurse and father of three had reportedly done the same with a dozen other elderly residents of the Revita senior citizen’s home where he worked since Wednesday, 18th May last year.

Burekovic lived in the city of Zenica, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, before he moved to Germany in order to secure a better future for his family.

But shortly after settling in, the struggling father then began with his wrongdoings in order to improve his financial situation.

He was reportedly caught after he bragged to a colleague that he had sedated the poor woman and taken all of her money while she was asleep.

His colleague then alerted the home’s management, after which Burekovic was apprehended and taken into custody.

Following his arrest, he was also dismissed from his workplace without notice and banned from entering.

He has exercised his right to remain silent ever since.

Home director Dennis Schalk said: “We assume that if the geriatric nurse concerned is convicted, he will not only face a severe prison sentence, but also a lifelong ban on his profession.”

Schalk also confirmed that the 60-year-old victim’s condition is improving and that she will continue to live in the home.

Meanwhile, detectives are investigating whether any of the deaths that occurred in the home ever since the offender’s employment can be attributed to drugs.
