GAME CHANGER: Lucky Lotto Winner Scoops USD 500,000 After Switching To Scratchcards

A lottery hopeful who had lost on a huge batch of tickets scooped a USD 500,000 jackpot when a pal said he should try one last time on a different game.

So after losing big on instant tickets, he bought one scratch-off card and was astonished when he found it had half a million dollars.

The winner – not named but from Gaithersburg, Montgomery County, Maryland State, USA – had switched to the bonus bingo X20 ticket.

He told lottery officials: “It was for sure a big surprise.”

Maryland Lottery said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “The happy winner plans to put his lucky windfall into the bank and may take a vacation with some of the funds in the future.”

Also cashing in is the person selling the ticket who will get a USD 1,000 (GBP 830) bonus from the lottery company.

They said that the game went on sale in August 2020, starting with eight USD 500,000 (GBP 414,000) top prizes.

After the Gaithersburg resident’s win, there are still three more unclaimed USD 500,000 prizes along with two unclaimed USD 50,000 (GBP 41,400) prizes and 49 remaining USD 10,000 (GBP
8,300) prizes.
