A teenage boy has been charged with attempted murder after attacking his mother with a frying pan because he was fed up with her trying to get him to tidy his room.
An affidavit said that the teenager, identified as 17-year-old Tobias “Toby” Jacob Brewer, had been arrested and charged with attempted murder after the attack at the end of November.
Brewer allegedly flew into a rage when his mother Carol Gray, 69, challenged him about the state of his room in Brevard County, Florida, USA.
After stabbing her repeatedly with a pocket knife, he hit her so hard with the frying pan that the handle broke off, report local media.
When police found his critically injured mother – who is still in hospital – she told them: “Toby did this.”
The teen was later arrested when he crashed his car trying to escape with a group of friends.
In the arrest report, the teenager was said to have confirmed that he stabbed his mother repeatedly using a pocket knife and then hit on the head with a kitchen utensil “until the handle of the frying pan broke.”
He said that he felt it was justified because he was “upset” about the fact that his mother was “constantly on his case about cleaning his room.”
The police report continued: “The suspect advised that he does not like cleaning his room and was tired of the victim (his mom) constantly harping about it.”
Police say before he fled, Brewer sent a text message to a friend asking him to bring a gun to his house so he could finish off his mother.
