This is the moment a motorist slams into a dog owner on a zebra crossing breaking his leg and sending him flying as his terrified pooch bolts away.

The crash was captured by the dashcam of the Ford SUV involved in the collision in the city of Kaili, which is in south-western China’s Guizhou Province, on 18th November.

In the video, the Ford owner can be seen speeding along Hangzhou Road when the pedestrian holding his dog’s lead suddenly appears from the central reservation on the left.

The dog walker hesitates and appears to consider stepping backwards, but then decides to sprint forwards along the zebra crossing in a bid to outrun the arriving Ford.

The SUV driver fails to brake in time and slams right into the dog owner, sending him flying dozens of feet onto the road ahead.

The pedestrian’s frightened dog sprints away from the crash site and runs into the distance, the footage shows.

The victim was later taken to hospital, and he continues to be treated for multiple fractures in his right leg.

He is reportedly not in any life-threatening condition.

Kaili traffic police said the owner of the Ford 4×4, the front of which was left damaged during the impact, tried to avoid responsibility by claiming the man had not used the pedestrian crossing.

However, a review of the car’s dashcam footage proved his statement to be untruthful.

The motorist is not believed to have been arrested as investigations continue.
