French government ministers have been discussing the best time to watch porn for the country’s bandwidth and suggested YouPorn users should send each other “amateur content”.

The conversation between the ministers was revealed in an investigation by French satirical weekly newspaper Canard Enchaine.

In the conversation, Marlene Schiappa, the Secretary of Equality between women and men, allegedly recommended that pornography users send each other amateur content.

The discussion appears to focus on how to address the massive increase in usage of the country’s internet infrastructure, with Netflix and YouPorn apparently causing bandwidth problems.

Agnes Pannier-Runacher, the Secretary of State for Economy and Finance, chimed in with some potentially useful advice, reportedly writing: “If you [use] YouPorn at 10.30 pm, it doesn’t bother anyone… It’s just a question of being organised.”

This was apparently “precious advice” for Transport Minister Jean-Baptiste Djebbari who thanked his colleague.

The Secretary of State (junior minister) for the Digital Economy Cedric O then reportedly teased: “Djeb, if you want us to prioritise YouPorn over Netflix, don’t hesitate [to let us know] and we will pass it on.

“I’m planning on calling YouPorn and Pornhub.”

Schiappa then reportedly said: “With YouPorn you can ask people to send you amateur content. Netflix is for families.”

Pannier-Runacher then reportedly said: “I find that you a becoming very wise, Marlene.”

Schiappa reportedly replied: “Is it the proposition of finding amateur porn content that makes you say that?”

Cedric O is said to have replied: “This crisis really does give one the opportunity to live unforgettable moments.”

Government spokesman Sibeth Ndiaye then reportedly said: “And conversations between ministers that will go down in French history.”

The discussion allegedly began as a result of Netflix’s decision to reduce bandwidth in Europe as a result of so many people working online from home during the isolation period caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

During the ‘secret’ chat on the Telegram service, Agnes Pannier-Runacher reportedly said: “I can confirm that we will be limiting Netflix, Apple, and YouTube because they take up 25 percent of the bandwidth, but during the day, not the evening.”

And the report says Schiappa answered: “There are going to be riots!”

Cedric O. showed his agreement with the bandwidth limitation by invoking the model of Italy, which “has seen its network row, including for major users, because porn and online games have exploded”.

According to the report, Schiappa fears the reaction of parents who will no longer be able to stick their children in front of the TV, saying: “I won’t say it publicly, but the situation… and the containment will exacerbate tensions.

“People need to have pressure relief valves… to prevent violent outbursts in the home”.

Cedric O then reportedly said: “Italy had trouble with its network, including for important uses, because porn and online gaming increased dramatically.”

Sibeth Ndiaye reportedly replied: “It is going to be magical to watch Cedric explain this on TV. Personally, I can’t guarantee that I can control the kids without going to the park or watching Netflix. We’re going to have family drama.”

This is when Pannier-Runacher made her comment about watching YouPorn at 10.30pm.

According to recent data released by Pornhub, global usage has increased dramatically. In the UK, this is also the case. But in France, the figures appear to show some difficulties, which might also explain the conversation that took place between the top government ministers.

Pornhub recently announced that it was making all of its premium content available for free globally in a bid to help people stay at home during the coronavirus outbreak.
