This is the moment a French farmer writes a huge ‘thank you’ in a field with his tractor to show his gratitude to healthcare workers dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Baptiste Marquie, a farmer living in Caignac, a small village southeast of Toulouse in the French department of Haute-Garonne, expressed his gratitude to all the healthcare workers in the midst of the crisis.

He posted the clip on his Facebook page, where it has been viewed 40,000 times, alongside the message: “In these difficult times, let’s take the time to support and thank all those who continue to make our country function, our caretakers, our farmers, our lorry drivers… I did it my way. Keep it up everyone!”

Marquie told local media: “I thought about how I could thank our medical teams, nurses and lorry drivers, supermarket workers, farmers and professionals who keep the country going despite the crisis affecting us all.”

Christian Daniau, the president of the Charente Chamber of Agriculture, also thanked caregivers in Puygelier near Angouleme in south-western France, as can be seen in pictures 4-6.

Daniau said on social media: “Farmers stand in solidarity with caregivers and we honour them in a big way. A special message for my niece Lisa, a young doctor.”
