A Romanian fraudster who famously used an ID card with Robert De Niro’s name and photo to secure bank loans has now allegedly been caught with over 1,300 ecstasy pills after being released on probation.

Sorin Bulgaru, 53, was sentenced to nine years in prison in 2011 after he used a photo of Robert De Niro along with the actor’s name on an ID card with a friend to fraudulently secure bank loans.

He was found guilty of forgery and fraud, with the employees of many banks not realising the scam and granting him loans.

The ID card he created even said his address was in Eternitatea cemetery in the city of Iasi in the north-eastern Romanian county of the same name while his parents were listed as Madonna and Anthony.

He was recently released on probation but soon after he was let out police found 1,373 ecstasy pills in his flat in the Nicolina neighbourhood of Iasi where he lived alone.

Cops reportedly found another 15 grams of fragments of ecstasy pills in the flat in the search on 8th June.

He was arrested and he will be held in detention for 30 days on suspicion of drug trafficking.
