The fox that terrorised a sleepy neighbourhood after its owners thought they had bought a puppy has been captured and transferred to a Peruvian zoo where it now boasts its own OnlyFans page to help other trafficked animals.

The incident took place in the area of Sol Naciente in the district of Comas in the Peruvian capital Lima when a young boy was tricked into buying the illegally-trafficked fox cub when he actually wanted a puppy.

While choosing a pet, the animal breeder sold the boy the Andean fox after passing it off as a Siberian husky puppy, according to the news site Infobae.

The boy began to raise the fluffy cub as a pet until it started to grow and became increasingly aggressive to family members, with the father soon realising it was a fox they were raising.

He also said he noticed the smell of the animal’s faeces and urine was stronger than most dogs’.

During a severe storm in the area on the night of 24th May, the fox escaped from the home in fear and went on to roam the neighbourhood for months, often being spotted on rooftops.

Local residents were unable to catch the fox, dubbed ‘Run Run’ and aged around eight months, since its escape.

To survive, the predator feasted on the local community’s chickens, ducks and guinea pigs – at a cost to the boy’s parents.

The boy’s mother, named Maribel, said: “Sometimes, it eats four or five guinea pigs and I have to pay for them.”

A local resident who kept guinea pigs in an outside wooden cage said the fox kept gnawing through the metal mesh to pick off her little pets, adding that she would often only find their heads and skins.

After Run Run hit the headlines last week, officials of the National Forest and Wildlife Service (Serfor), part of the Ministry of Agriculture of Peru, spent several days tracking it down and tranquillised it with a dart on Monday night, 8th November.

The fox was then transferred to the Parque de Las Leyendas zoo in Lima where it remains under observation to determine whether it can survive in its natural habitat.

According to local reports, Run Run’s capture has caused a lot of excitement in the area and people have been flocking to the zoo to see the fox, however they were left disappointed, as it is not being exhibited to visitors.

The Peruvian Trust Fund for National Parks and Protected Areas (Profonanpe) has opened an OnlyFans account for the popular fox so people can donate to helping trafficked animals.

Run Run has become the face of illegally trafficked animals in Peru where thousands of wild species are taken from their natural habitat and often sold in poor conditions.
