The investigation has since led to over 100 more charges being filed against the former academic, who taught at the University of Oklahoma’s Health Sciences Center.

In total, Wiechmann has now been charged with over 131 crimes, including 72 counts of manufacturing child pornography, according to court records.

In early 2021, a woman, who has not been named, reportedly contacted the authorities and told them that she had found numerous hidden cameras set up throughout her house.

The relationship between the mother and the accused and how he came to set up cameras in the house has not been made clear in order to protect the teenager’s identity.

The unnamed mother also said that she had found other hidden cameras in addition to the one in her daughter’s bedroom. In some cases they had been disguised as smoke detectors.

The authorities investigated Wiechmann who had told the woman that the cameras had been set up for reasons of “security”.

This led to them eventually going to his home to question him.

He reportedly admitted that he was interested in “voyeurism”, with one detective reportedly saying: “He went on to explain he searches for pornography based on his fantasies.

“I asked him what [that] entailed and he stated he likes to watch voyeurism scenarios of women in dressing rooms or bedrooms.”

The suspect was arrested and he now faces 131 charges after police searched his computers and hard drives. Wiechmann is next set to appear in court on 13th January.
