This is the moment a ‘flying saucer’ shaped cloud is spotted above a mountain top in Bali.

The footage shows the ominous and foreboding cloud lingering above the Mount Agung volcano in Bali, Indonesia.

The strange cloud is called the “Altocumulus Lenticularis” and has reappeared in recent days after being spotted at the site earlier this year.

This phenomenon appeared after there was an eruption at the mountain last week.

Head of BMKG Region III Data and Information, Denpasar, Iman Faturahman told local media: “These clouds are called Lenticularis clouds and are commonly formed near mountains.

“The clouds are formed due to the humid air mass which is moved by the wind towards the top of the mountain where it undergoes a process of condensation and forms clouds.”

He said that the cloud presents no clear danger to the local community in the area.

However, he admitted that it could spark turbulence if an aircraft were to fly through it or that it could make conditions difficult for mountain climbers.

It is not the first time that the cloud like this has been spotted at the site as it was seen by locals when it appeared in January this year before it later disappeared.
