This dashcam footage from inside a BMW shows a metal pipe flying off the back of a lorry and smashing through the car’s windscreen on the motorway.
The startling scenes were recorded on a motorway in the Sanshui District of Foshan City in South China’s Guandong Province as a BMW driver was overtaking two lorries.
In the footage, the driver can be seen overtaking the two lorries when a metal pipe, reportedly one metre (three feet) in length suddenly comes flying at the windscreen.

The pipe hits the windscreen on the driver’s side, cracking the glass and local media report it pierced the windscreen.
The driver, who has not been named, manages to remain calm and slowly comes to a halt in the hard shoulder.
One of the driver’s colleagues told local media: “He was scared to death when the metal stick was heading right at him! But he is lucky, only his stomach was scratched a bit.”
Traffic police were reportedly called to the scene but it is unclear if the lorry driver was stopped or if the BMW driver required medical attention.
Netizen ‘Dong Xiaowu’ commented: “I am going to buy a helmet for my car.”
And ‘Mohan’ commented: “You should buy a welding helmet and a bulletproof vest.”
While ‘Shengjian’ wrote: “If the metal pole had spun a bit more, it would have pierced the driver…”
