An American drama teacher has been arrested for having sex with a 14-year-old student in her car on multiple occasions.

Brittiny Lopez-Murray, 31, who works as a drama teacher at the Hialeah Middle Community School in the city of Hialeah in the US state of Florida, was arrested by the police on Monday.

The suspect, who was named rookie teacher of the year in 2017, is accused of having sexual relations with a 14-year-old student on numerous occasions.

According to a police report, the drama teacher first reached out to the teen in August to express ‘her feelings towards’ him.

The report added that the teacher and the teen, who is now studying in high school, exchanged messages detailing ‘how much they enjoyed sex with each other’.

Local media said the teacher, who has taught at the middle school for four years, also occasionally picked the teen up in her car after his basketball practice where they allegedly took part in sexual acts.

The teenager’s sister saw explicit texts between the pair on Saturday and the father found naked images of the suspect on the boy’s phone, according to reports.

The teen told the police that the suspect, who was married in 2016, ‘expressed her feelings’ towards him in August before meeting up for coffee.

He reportedly admitted to taking part in numerous sex acts in the teacher’s car, including in the car parks of a local supermarket and shopping centre.

She has reportedly been charged with engaging in a sexual act with a child, molestation, and lewd and lascivious battery.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools told local media that the teacher will be dismissed following her arrest.

Her lawyer Landon Ray reminded the public that the suspect is “presumed innocent until proven guilty”, adding: “We hope everyone is patient, doesn’t rush to judgment, and respects the family’s privacy.”

The investigation continues.
