This is the moment a huge section of road lifts up and flips over as a burst pipe turns a town street into a river in a massive flood.
Within a few hours, the normal shopping street had become a fast-flowing knee-deep waterway in Seyhan, Adana province, southern Turkey.
CCTV footage – recorded in the early hours of 3rd June – shows a giant crack suddenly appearing on the tarmac.
As immense water pressure builds up underneath it, the section of road flips over and water gushes onto the street instantly flooding the neighbourhood.
Local reports say an underground pipe carrying drinking water from a pumping station burst and carved out a large sinkhole.
As underground water levels rose, the pressure was too much for the tarmac and it burst apart.
Local media reports several homes and businesses in the vicinity were flooded.
Locals warned road users about the large two-metre-deep pit in the road in case they failed to see it in the dark and drove straight down it.
According to reports, the Adana Water and Sewerage Administration sent a team to the scene to cut the water supply and replace the burst water pipe.
Residents were soon able to access drinking water again, however it is unclear if the council has repaired the damaged road surface yet.
