A seal lion needed a helping hand to find its way home after it got lost around the streets of a city in Alaska.

The Valdez Police Department said they received a call to say that a sea lion had been seen wandering on the road in the city of Valdez.

In a social media post, they said: “Fall season usually equals bear calls, bear calls, and more bear calls.

“Today, we got a call about a sea lion that had “crossed the road.” It sounded like a bad joke but we went over and lo and behold a sea lion HAD crossed the road!

“The animal was distressed, tired, and we thought, possibly looking for snacks at the gas station? Thanks to some creative vehicle herding by our Officers and the assistance of local resident Jeff Saxe and his trusty backhoe, we were able to safely get this guy or gal back to the tidelands.

“A legit happy ending for all of us and our new friend.”
