This cute baby has become the first birth in a tiny Spanish hamlet in 64 years.

The baby’s parents Viviana Palacios, 34, and Victor Gonzalez, 38, live in the hamlet of Valcuende, which is located in the municipality of Valderrueda, in the central Spanish province of Leon, which had just four inhabitants before the birth of their son Ivan.

The tot was born in the Hospital of Leon and the parents have now returned to the hamlet with its new fifth inhabitant.

Father Victor told Newsflash: “My grandparents lived here and I used to come here for a long time for holidays, I loved this village.

“The house where we live now was a stable where my grandfather kept the cattle. This is a small village, young people left and I decided to work with cattle and we are living and working in the village.”

He added: “There is the village Mayor, Carmina who is a 70-year-old neighbour, and now my wife and I and Ivan. Our neighbours are very happy with the birth.”

He has been living in the village while his wife moved there three years ago.

Speaking about the coronavirus crisis, the father told Newsflash: “We don’t have coronavirus cases in the village and we take all the precautions when going to the supermarket.”

The new parents met when Viviana’s family moved to the village of La Espina some three kilometres away 15 years ago and his brother organised a date for them.

They now plan to stay in the village and make their family bigger with the first children for 64 years. Victor has expanded his herd of cattle from six cows to 60 and the family have other animals for self-consumption but still travel to the nearest supermarket for other supplies.
