A man who was fined by cops for breaking lockdown was so unhappy that he showed up at the police station with boxing gloves to challenge the officer to a fight.

The incident took place in the town of Chatellerault in the south-western French department of Vienne in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region after the man was fined before the end of lockdown on Monday.

He was reportedly out and about without a good reason and was fined 135 EUR (120 GBP).

The police officer was not there when the man, who has not been named due to local privacy laws, showed up one evening at around 11:30pm, so the man challenged other cops to a fight. He had even brought two pairs of boxing gloves with him.

They reportedly did not take kindly to this and promptly detained the boxer.

He has been charged with making threats against police officers.

So far, 178,994 coronavirus infections have been reported in France and the country ranks 7th in the world. According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, 27,428 people have died of the disease in France.
