This is the moment a nervous masked thief enters a shop as the assistant ignores him on the phone, and the fidgety suspect then leaves seconds later after apparently losing steam.
The shy robber was filmed entering the shop in the city of Chelyabinsk in the south-western Russian region of Chelyabinsk Oblast and leaving empty-handed seconds later.
In the CCTV footage, the suspect walks into the shop while wearing a hoodie and a scarf covering his face.
As he stumbles up to the counter and starts fidgeting with his hands, the female shop assistant is talking on the phone and she fails to acknowledge the apparent thief in the room.
The masked man paces the shop floor and politely leaves the assistant in peace so she can continue her phone chat.
After apparently losing his pluck, the nervous thief struts straight out of the shop.
According to local media, the nonchalant assistant intentionally gave the impression that she was not worried by the masked man’s presence, and she alerted the authorities immediately after he left the shop.
The police are investigating the CCTV footage, but have yet to track the suspect down.
One netizen commented: “With her indifference and continued phone call, the assistant killed the thief’s confidence. The poor man had no choice but to leave with his tail between his legs.”
