Fernando Alonso has finally revealed his future as he plans to participate in next years’ edition of the world-renowned Dakar Rally with Toyota.

According to Carlos Miguel, a journalist at Spanish radio station Cadena COPE, Alonso plans to drive for Toyota in the 2020 Dakar Rally.

This comes after much speculation and uncertainty surrounding the future of his career after the Spanish driver came out in a press conference confirming that he was not planning on returning to Formula 1.

Fernando Alonso, a two-time F1 world champion, said: “I have a clear idea of what I’m going to do, I’m not leaving any doors opened nor am I expecting or hoping for anyone to call me. I have always chosen where and when I’ve raced because I move according to what makes me happy. What I’m going to end up doing in the future is in my head and will be known in its due time.”

Fernando Alonso has just been crowned champion at the World Endurance Championship in Le Mans, France with the same company he plans on driving with in the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia next year, Toyota.

The Spanish driver is one of only two active drivers, along with Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya, to have won two of the three events which make up the Triple Crown. Alonso has won Le Man and the F1 World Championship and needs to win the Indy 500 to join Graham Hill as the only winners of the Triple Crown.
