This is the moment a landlord enters his apartment after a tenant of eight months suddenly left and finds it covered in piles of rubbish and used takeaway boxes.

The shocking scenes were filmed at an apartment in the city of Zhengzhou in the Chinese province of Henan on 2nd March.

The images were shared on the Chinese social network Douyin by the locksmith who entered the flat with the owner.

The locksmith said he had “never seen anything like this in over 10 years” in his job.

According to local reports, the apartment was rented to a female tenant who paid for a year’s rent, but left suddenly after eight months.

The apartment owner went to the flat with the locksmith after complaints were made about the strong stench coming from the apartment.

The pair entered the flat and saw piles of rubbish covering virtually every inch of floor space, including empty bottles, takeaway boxes, face masks, and used toilet paper.

The owner said the female tenant had turned his apartment into a “rubbish dump”.

The locksmith, named as Mr Tian, said: “I have been doing locks for over 10 years and I’ve never seen anything like this before. The place was filthy. I’ve never seen anywhere so dirty before.”
